Message	is the VTC mechanism cycling, I believe this will lead to accelerated wear and unnecessary metal in the oil. Now, no one that I know of has ever had one catastrophically die but I have two that were certainly on their way. Also consider that every click means the intake cams are advancing from 0° to 20° and then back to 0°, this could affect idle quality, emissions, and/or drivability to some extent. Lastly, yes, it is absolutley annoying that a car as good looking as the Z32 could emit this ridiculous sound.
